Our Story
We set out to create a rum that reflects the character of Torbay. As the sister brand to Torbay Gin, we share a commitment to quality and creating spirits that help the community we love create lasting memories.
For us, Torbay Rum is about more than just making great spirits - it’s about bringing people together, sharing stories, and creating memories, whether you’re sitting by the sea or enjoying a drink with friends at home. Our rums reflect The English Riviera in every pour, and celebrate the place we call home.
Our Process
We start with oak barrel-aged rum that’s been mellowing for three years, giving it a smooth, rich base. Then, we add Devon water, sourced from the heart of our region, which brings out the natural flavours in a way that makes our rum stand out.
Our first release, our Golden Spiced rum is a reflection of our passion for creating quality spirits. Natural sweetness from pineapple and caramel, and a carefully selected blend of spices gives a quality a depth and smooth complexity you won’t find anywhere else.
Where Did We Be-gin?
Our story started back in 2020 with the launch of Torbay Gin, where we set out to create a gin that not only stood out amongst its competition but also resonated with the people of Torbay.
Since its release, we have won awards from a local to an international scale. Most notably, IWSC Gold in the Gin and Tonic category in 2023, and most recently, Taste of the West Gold 2025 for all 3 of our gins.
We've had the privilege of working with fantastic organisations like Paignton Zoo and The English Riviera Airshow, and meeting King Charles III on his visit to Cockington. As a team passionate about crafting quality spirits, it has given us the platform and inspiration to launch Torbay Rum.
Our Mission
At Torbay Rum, we have two main focuses - an unwavering commitment to quality and a passion for doing what we can to contribute to the beautiful place where we are lucky to live: The English Riviera.
As a team with a love for our coastline, we have set out to put sustainability at the heart of our operations.
Our rum’s label is made from cane fibre, a more eco-friendly alternative to wood-based paper, created from the byproduct of sugar production. It’s fully biodegradable.
The wax that seals our bottles is also sustainably and naturally sourced.
We're working hard behind the scenes to work on some other exciting initiatives - more to come on that!
Golden Spiced
Our signature rum uses notes of tropical pineapple and rich caramel, finished with a blend of carefully curated spices, creating rum that’s smooth, slightly sweet, and warmly complex.
A Visit From A Legend
Neil Warnock, a football legend with over 50 years in the game, has a special connection to Torbay. As the former manager of Torquay United in the early '90s, he played a crucial role in saving the team from relegation, earning him a lasting place in the local community’s heart. With a career that boasts eight promotions, and now back at Torquay United as Football Advisor, Neil is a true icon of the sport.
In January 2025, Neil visited us and sampled Torbay Rum and torbay Gin. Not only did he enjoy our rum, but he even took a bottle home, marking a meaningful endorsement from someone so deeply connected to the area. It’s moments like this that remind us why we’re here: creating something that celebrates Torbay’s spirit and its people.
