A Visit From a Legend: Neil Warnock Enjoys a Sip of Torbay Rum

What a week it’s been here at Torbay Distilling Company! We kicked things off with a proud moment when our gins won gold at the Taste of the West Limited awards. But the excitement didn’t stop there – it got even better when football management legend Neil Warnock paid us a visit for a special tasting of our Torbay Rum.

For those who may not know, Neil Warnock is a name synonymous with football. Having managed clubs like Cardiff City and Sheffield United, he’s known for his no-nonsense style and candid humour. Now, in his role as Football Advisor for Torquay United FC, Neil is as much a part of the local scene as he is a legend in the world of football.

Neil’s visit was a special one for us. Logan Guthrie and Chris Joyce from the team were thrilled to meet him, and as expected, Neil was just as friendly, funny, and down-to-earth in person as he appears on screen. The conversation flowed as easily as the drinks, and we were over the moon to share our latest creation with him – our Golden Spiced Rum.

 

What really made his visit memorable was Neil’s reaction to the rum. He loved it so much that he left with a bottle of the very first batch, taking it home to enjoy. In fact, Neil mentioned that he’d prefer to sip it neat over ice, rather than mixing it – a true compliment from someone who’s had a taste of many fine things throughout his career.

For us, this visit was a great way to kick off what we hope will be a hugely exciting year for Torbay Rum. Having someone like Neil, with such an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship, enjoy our rum is a moment we’ll cherish. It’s not every day that a football legend becomes one of your early fans.
